Ramey Wraps Up August With More Top Fives

SWEET SPRINGS, Mo. – A month of impressive finishes for Gunner Ramey has him closing in for the points lead at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex. After the Sedalia, Mo. native collected the lion's share at KAM Raceway in Hastings, Neb. on August 7, four races at Sweet Springs in August resulting in fourth, second, fifth, and fourth-place finishes put him just 47 markers back of points leader Luke Howard, and looks to gain even more ground in the coming weeks.

Over the weekend, the latter of the fourth-place runs started off with the highest restrictor division car count of the season, with 17 set for action. Two heat races were on tap, and Ramey powered from his inside-row-two starting position to a runner-up result.

In the main event, Ramey, who turned 13 last Wednesday, rolled off from the 13th starting position for the 25-lapper. Though he is usually quick to maneuver through traffic toward the front, the young gun was more challenged on this night. On lap 11, he took over sixth. A lap-17 caution collected the points leader and netted Ramey the fifth spot. On the restart, he and teammate Braydon Renfro raced for position, but Ramey won the battle for good on lap 20, and jumped into fourth with three laps remaining.

Ramey would like to thank Impact Signs Awnings & Wraps, Sure Coat Powdercoating, Rob Sneed Shorthorns, McKinney Construction, Ramey Dirtworks, Southwest Storage, 8760 Service Group, Rod End Supply, Factory Kahne Midwest, MYCHRONTOM, and Quick Engineering, as well as his family and the Renfro, Houston, and Cornell families for their continued support.

Ramey is next scheduled to compete on September 5 at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex in Sweet Springs, Mo. in the No. 28 600cc micro sprint entry.
