Renfro Disrupted by Transponder Issues, Rebounds for Sixth

SWEET SPRINGS, Mo. – Sometimes in racing, you have bad luck. On Saturday night at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex, Braydon Renfro had bad luck. Leading the main event with ten laps to go, disaster struck, and he was forced to go to the tail of the field. Regardless, the driver still powered back to a sixth-place finish.

Fifteen drivers were set for action at the sixth-mile oval in central Missouri. Two heat races were on tap, and the Tipton, Mo. racer set out in heat two from inside row two. Unable to successfully challenge for position, Renfro’s Factor One/Yamaha entry finished the ten-lap affair in third.

The feature, set for 25 laps and lined up based off a point average inversion, began with the young Renfro starting in ninth. By lap seven, he had already completed the drive to the lead, and looked to build on the margin between he and the competitors behind him. The race was his for the taking, turning fast, consistent laps from the point. Soon, his chances were soiled by a costly blow; while leading and running the cushion on lap 16, the scoring transponder fell from its pouch on the BW Graphics No. 4 machine, the yellow flag waved and Renfro was sent to the tail end of the field for the mishap. Renfro, understandably disappointed after the calamity, managed to make his way back into sixth place by the time the race was settled.

Renfro would like to thank BW Graphics, Jack’s Municipal Sales, Dennis Devine and Associates Real Estate, Comfort Inn, Finish Line Dump Truck Services, Border Xpressions, Instinct Imagery, and Renfro Vet Service, as well as his family and crew for their continued support.

Renfro is next scheduled to compete on July 18 at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex in Sweet Springs, Mo. in the No. 4 600cc micro sprint entry.
