Hulsey Earns First Career A-Class Score

SWEET SPRINGS, Mo. – Looking to improve on last week's top five effort, Garrett Hulsey set his sights on capturing his first win of the 2015 season. He did just that on Friday night at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex, putting it all together and cashing in for his first victory since moving into the A-Class division late last season.

Lining up inside the second row in the heat two, the Lone Jack, Mo. racer wasted no time moving into the second position. After riding there for the majority of the race, Hulsey began to feel a vibration in the front end and pulled to the infield before the checkered and was scored in sixth. Once pitside, the culprit was obvious: dirt packed inside the right front wheel threw off the balance of the tire, causing the vibration.

Feature lineups inverted based off point average put the 13-year-old rolling off from the eighth starting spot. It took Hulsey just 14 laps to charge into the top position. Hulsey and tenth-starting Jack Wagner, a common duo atop the restrictor class results in 2014, were the front two once more, and were set up to battle for the win in the latter half of the race. The caution flag would wave with two laps remaining, bringing on a green-white-checkered showdown. Hulsey, a young driver that could easily be mistaken as a seasoned veteran by unknowing fans, showed his finesse in the final two circuits to snag the victory.

Hulsey would like to thank Nathan Benson Motorsports, Mike Schure at Schure Built Suspensions, Richard and Stanley Kreisel at AdvanTec Dyno Service, and Dave Byers at DDI Fab, as well as his family and fans for their continued support.

Hulsey is next scheduled to compete on July 11 at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex in Sweet Springs, Mo. in the No. 88G 600cc micro sprint entry.
